About the Office

In 2011, the Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate Education and Faculty Affairs was created to better serve the faculty and graduate student community at Georgia Tech. The original reporting units included the Office of Graduate Studies and Admissions, the Office of Faculty Affairs, and the Graduate Research Ethics Program.

Since then, the office has evolved into the Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate Education and Faculty Development (VPGEFD), which includes six main reporting units:

  • Office of Graduate Studies —Aims to ensure the quality and relevance of graduate education and the academic success of Tech’s graduate students.
  • Office of Faculty Affairs —Supports the needs of future and current faculty members.
  • Center for Teaching and Learning —Promotes and supports an on-campus and online instructional community where excellence in teaching and learning is valued and where educators engage in evidence-based, state-of-the-art practices that foster opportunities in which diverse students and instructors can thrive.
  • Professional Development and Postdoctoral Services — Provides career and professional development training for graduate students and faculty as well as enhances postdoc training and professional development while building a sense of community.
  • Advocacy and Conflict Resolution —Assists students, staff and faculty with questions, concerns or grievances regarding academic policies and personal interactions with faculty members.
  • Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) —Provides education, resources and guidance on ethical issues emerging from research activities and helps to administer the Institute's three RCR policies.

With their shared goals of service, advocacy and development, these units collaborate on initiatives and share domain expertise to pursue opportunities and address problems at the intersection of two or more of our main constituents: graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and faculty.
